OUR MISSION …changing how people think, both inside and outside the church. ServeDay provides us the opportunity to grow as disciples by getting out and actively showing people the love of Jesus. By cancelling church and tackling major projects, we are learning that church is about more than just the four walls. Throughout the year, people from First Pres already serve all over our community, but ServeDay is our chance to make a huge splash by tackling major projects. We want to show our community the love and support of First Pres, and honor the name of Jesus.
How do I sign up?
You will be able to sign up online starting July 30, 2017. You can start looking through the available projects now by clicking on Projects. The registration button will show up on the project detail page beginning July 30. In addition, we will be adding the ability to sign up at weekend services in the future. More to follow on that.
I’ve never done anything like this before, where do I start?
We have a project for everyone! You can browse projects by location or type. Please note that many of our projects do not require any particular skill – just a willing heart and a pair of hands. We even offer “Light Duty”, “Family Friendly”, and “elder friendly” projects. You’ll be able to sign up for morning or afternoon time slots on either day. You will have a Project Leader to guide you along the way.
What about kids? Can we bring them along?
Yes! Look for a “Family Friendly” project where your kids can work alongside you. Kids can make a great addition to the serving team, provided the projects match their maturity and skills. You’ll know best what project will be a good fit for your family. As a Growth Group, you may decide to designate someone to stay with very young children, so everyone else can be free to serve.
I am elderly / injured and unable to do heavier labor. Can I still serve?
Absolutely, we have multiple projects for people that may not have the ability to work outside for long periods, stand for long periods, or lift heavy objects.
Is there childcare available?
We are providing volunteers with fun and free childcare for ages birth through 5th grade!
8:30 am to 12:00 pm (drop off and pick up any time during these hours)
Children must be pre-registered to attend. All further information and details regarding childcare will be sent via email once registered.
Child care spots are expected to fill quickly so don’t wait. REGISTER NOW
Where will the projects be located?
All over our community in areas including South Tampa, North Tampa, Brandon, Clearwater, and St. Pete.
Do participants get a t-shirt?
T-shirts will be available with a $5 donation, your project lead will have them available and coordinate you receiving your t-shirt.
Can I sign up for any service project?
Yes (as long as you meet the requirements for the project volunteer needed). Anyone can sign up for any service project. And you can sign up for more than one shift and more than one project. It’s fun to meet and work alongside new faces for the common goal of serving our community.
